Description
Our Traditions range is a celebration of traditional winemaking methods that have been employed by winemakers throughout the centuries.
2022 was a cool year with overcast, humid days throughout November and December. January through February was warm and dry providing ideal conditions for fruit development. Low cropping provided grapes of great intensity. Hand-picked on the 18th April 2022.
Vinification: From a selection of 3 clones (D5V12, 114, 115), grapes were foot-stomped prior to fermentation (wild yeast) in open vats for 10 days. Basket pressed and matured on lees for 12 months in a mix of 50% new and 50% neutral French oak barriques.
A wine of intense ruby hues, the wine displays a bouquet of cherry, violet, brambles and star anise. On the palate, the wine is tightly structured, exhibiting notes of cherries, fresh blueberry, spice and liquorice, with extended tannins and tight acidity. A wine that holds great cellaring potential.
